At my big age of 25 I’ve began to take pleasure in the more mundane pleasures in life. Cupboard organising is my therapy. Given a bunch of empty jars and a label maker I’ll Marie Kondo my heart out until even the cornflour is assigned a place. That’s how wild things get round mine on a weekday evening in lockdown. Most of our food ingredients are overflowing, the worst of which was a chaotic box of jarred and boxed spices stashed away in a cupboard. Rummaging to the bottom each time I needed some cinnamon for pancakes was not the one. Being the queen (saddo?) of organising that I am, I decided to make custom spice jars. I bought some empty spice jars from here, labels from here, a tiered organiser from here and got to work.
I ended up making up 30 jars in total and all in all it cost me around £40 for everything that I used. Given how expensive spice racks can be I’m pretty happy with that, plus you can get away with making it much cheaper if you don’t want to keep as many spices. For 18 jars the same set up will cost just £25. If you have the space to put these on a wall rack I think they’d look even better. Let me know if you give these custom spice jars a go!
