a winter walk

My favourite thing about living in Norfolk most definitely has to be the mass of wonderful places there are to go for long country walks. The dogs just love getting out and about to meet other pups and to trot around like they own the place. I've been waiting for it to snow properly ever since last year when once again we got absolutely none, I can't wait to see Milo leaping around in it once it eventually does fall.

christmas time | 2014

I can never manage to drag myself out of my pjs and cosy house to go for a walk on christmas day itself, that and I'd probably have to roll out of the door considering how much I'd eaten. I ventured out on boxing day though, head to toe in my new Victoria's Secret clothes (obviously they just had to have little dogs on) and took the boys on a frosty walk. We met two rather fluffy and white huskies who I very much wanted to take home and snuggle up next to. Disclaimer: I'm not actually pregnant with an iPhone baby although it looks that way.

christmas treats and sweets

| Gingerbread House Kit | Tesco | £4.99

I made myself a little gingerbread house (for the first time ever) using a kit from Tesco along with a Dr. Oetker designer icing bag an a few jelly tots. Take my advice and bin the icing that comes with the kit instantly, it tastes foul and comes out as dry as a bone. The Dr. Oetker version is only £2 a bag and comes with lots of different nozzles to create a variety of shapes, with the cost of the kit it cost me around £7 to make the little house.

| Sloe Gin and Lemonade Cocktails

My mum always makes sloe gin each year so we have plenty of bottles stored away in the cupboard, but if you haven't made any this year then Slamsey's do a great version too. Crush up some ice enough to half fill a glass, then splash in a shot of sloe gin and fill up with lemonade. You can also dip the rim of the glass in egg white and then in sugar to create a frosted effect, absolutely perfect for Christmas time.

| Gingerbread Stars

I popped to Ikea a couple of days ago and picked up a ready-to-roll pack of gingerbread, no need to faff around getting tons of ingredients and making a right old mess in the kitchen when all you have to do with this is roll out and cut into shapes. I then used my trusty Dr. Oetker icing once again for these, granted they aren't the most precisely iced biscuits in the world but I quite enjoy that homemade feel to them.

| Frosted Cranberries

These make for a great coffee table decoration and are super easy to make too. Just coat each cranberry in egg white and then into sugar (as with the glasses for the cocktails) and leave to dry for a couple of hours. You can also use these as cake decorations or lay them around the base of a large candle in a vase.

| Candy Cane Peppermint Cream Stars

These were my favourite creation of the bunch, they melt in the mouth and have a slight chewiness to them in the centre due to the candy cane. To start, crush up a bunch of candy canes by using a plastic sandwich bag and a rolling pin. Then mix together one egg white with 225g of icing sugar and a few drops of peppermint essence to create a paste and sprinkle in the crushed candy canes by kneading the paste with your hands. Roll the paste out to create a 5mm thickness and use a star shaped cutter to cut out your shapes, then pop them onto greaseproof paper that has been coated in a dusting of icing sugar and leave to dry out for a couple of hours. The sweetest little treats ever.

Have a beautiful Christmas!

bill's earl grey teatime christmas gift box

As much as I love beauty products, food is the real way to my heart. Last year, Bill's had a wonderful selection of food hampers available on their website but this year they are going that one step further and have introduced beautiful gift boxes filled with treats too. They very kindly sent over their earl grey teatime box for me to have a try of, and honestly, I love everything that's included. Earl grey tea is my absolute favourite so that was a big bonus, the sweet little tin is lovely too. Saying that, the black forest truffles are definitely the best of the bunch, I can't seem to stop gobbling them down. The strawberry jam and toffee oaties are perfect for Christmas breakfast too, along with a few bonbons of course. If you like the look of this food box too much to contemplate giving it to someone else then treat yo self to it instead!

Bill's are still offering delivery in time for Christmas up until tomorrow for all products on their website, so get your skates on.
