favourite new things | 02

These Nike free runners have quickly become my current favourite pair of shoes, they are so ridiculously comfortable that they make any gym session feel like a breeze plus they are great to wear with jeans and a tee for a casual outfit. I got them around a year or two ago but have only just got them out of the box to start wearing as silly as it sounds, I'm not too sure what the exact model is and can't find them anywhere online but there are lots of similar versions of the free runners available.

Whilst browsing Debenhams I spotted a bunch of Tripp suitcases that were almost 1/3 of the original price so couldn't resist this greige coloured cabin sized version. I'm heading off on a fair few trips throughout Autumn, all of which I will be blogging about, so was super pleased to have found the perfect case to take along with me.

I've been after a transparent plastic refillable drinking cup for absolutely ages so was super pleased when I spotted these in Waitrose on offer at two for £5 instead of £10. I actually much prefer the look of them with the plastic sleeve removed which I find makes them look much more chic. Although it's no longer picnic season I'm using these to make sure I drink enough water throughout the day as they are huge, either that or I take one in the car for any long journeys.

I visited a local food festival a couple of days ago which is where I spotted Slamsey's, a brand which sell lots of different flavoured gins, if you love gin as much as I do then you absolutely must try a bottle. I opted for the raspberry version and adore how well it goes with lemonade and a fresh slice of lemon, I'm going to be stocking up on the larger bottle once mine runs out.

Milo has had his fair share of treats and gifts lately too. I found this grey little chew toy from pound stretcher of all places to help with his teething, I really like how simple and plain the design and colour are, often most dog toys can be really garish looking. I've also been plying him with these puppy development treats, if he's going to have treats then they should at least be healthy ones right? Last but not least is the collar that he's been wearing from Hiro and Wolf, most small dog collars can tend to be too thin to allow enough control on the lead over an excitable little pup which is why I much prefer the thickness of this one, it's really robust too.

rainbow confetti loaf cake and cupcakes

A couple of days ago I decided to have a chilled day at home and admit defeat that days of sunbathing in the garden are well and truly over and now it's time to wrap up warm and stay indoors baking lots of cupcakes and watching films. I had a rainbow cake mix in the cupboard so had the idea of making a loaf cake along with some cupcakes for the left over batter. I know that cake mixes are the lazy way of baking but in all honesty these came out so light and fluffy that they ended up better than any cupcakes I've ever made with a regular recipe, plus it saved tons of time and effort. To make the loaf cake you simply grease a bread loaf tin well and pour 2/3 full and bake for around 35 minutes, the cupcakes will need just 20. I whipped up some buttercream frosting for the cupcakes and a runny glazed icing for the loaf cake, both of which tasted absolutely yummy. I used the Duff Goldman mix which I found in Harvey Nichols and can't recommend enough, although you could use the Betty Crocker version instead which I reckon is pretty much the same yet easier to get hold of. I'm keen on trying out making popcakes soon and I think that this rainbow confetti style would be absolutely perfect for them. There's nothing like rainbow cupcakes to brighten up a rainy day!

monki playsuit and ray-ban erika sunglasses

I'm the first to admit that I'm not exactly a natural when it comes to outfit posts, I can put a decent outfit together easily but always seem to look like a bit of a lemon when it comes down to the posing for photos. That and I get hugely embarrassed when a group of boys come past on their bikes and start chanting 'princess' at me. Awkwardness aside, I managed to get a few shots that I was quite happy with for the first time in a while. I wore this beautiful playsuit by Monki which I got as a gift for my 20th birthday along with the Dune slip ons which are super comfy and wearable. Sunglasses shop were kind enough to send over the Ray-ban Erika tortoise shell sunglasses recently for me to show you all, I've fallen completely in love with them and find they give any outfit an sophisticated edge. They're also lightweight enough that you forget you are even wearing them which is a real bonus.
