a trip to harwich

For the last couple of days I headed over to the town of Harwich, it's a little seaside destination with a difference as it's directly next to a port so you can sit and watch huge ships come and go. The area I stayed in was quirky yet quiet and seemed to just be relaxed and apart from the odd ice cream stall there was hardly a hint of touristy attractions which I loved. This meant you could just ramble from the Hotel down to the beach huts and hardly pass anyone apart from the odd local or two.

Day one:

Our room was in prime location to view the beautiful sunset of that evening, I will be writing up a review of the Hotel very soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Day two:

After checking out (we only stayed one night) we headed down to the long stretch of beach, the weather was still so hot that people were out swimming and paddling. Considering it's still very much summertime I was amazed at how deserted parts of the beach were, we had one of the sections all to ourself for a couple of hours until we headed off for lunch.

floral playsuit and white converse

The words floral and playsuit both excite me equally so when they come together to make a beautiful piece of clothing I will always invest in a heartbeat. I wore it with a simple and now not so white pair of converse, I love when they start to look worn and scruffy. Apologies for the state of my hair in these photos, I'd recently come out of the shower and it went a bit wild!

shades of blue

 DRESS - TOPSHOP (OLD SEASON) | WATCH - MAY 28TH | BRACELET - DOGEARED

Last night I dyed my hair a navy blue colour again so in the theme of all things blue I decided to put on this beautiful turquoise dress by Topshop. I got it in the sale about a year ago and have only just got round to wearing it, I love the deep neckline and cute little pockets. I wore it with my new watch from Urban Outfitters which was an absolute bargain in the sale down from £35 to just £10.

the ickworth hotel

A few weeks ago I posted about my birthday break at Ickworth and promised a review of the Hotel, so here it is. I say Hotel but in fact Ickworth is a sprawling estate and has both Hotel rooms in the main building and a Lodge house half a mile away from the buzz of the main area. This place is seriously breathtaking, from the architecture of the rotunda building to the vast gardens of planted flowers it really is an English country Hotel at it's finest. I've stayed here a few times now and it has always been my favourite place to escape to as it's so easy to lose yourself in the grounds. The staff are always incredible too and make the place feel like a home from home, I can't express into words just how warm and welcoming it always feels. There is a Spa, pool, conservatory for breakfast, afternoon tea rooms, a children's crèche, a cinema room and a fine dining restaurant all packed into the main Hotel along with tennis courts and bikes to hire outside making a limitless amount of things to do, and they allow for dogs too.

I guarantee if you book a stay at Ickworth you will have such a great time, it definitely has a little place in my heart as you can probably tell. There is so much to discover that fitting it all into one blog post would be impossible and it's always nice to find out the mysteries of a place for yourself. Prices can be a expensive depending on when you book but we managed to get a deal for £150 a night including breakfast and three course dinner for two, this offer is currently available for most of September too.
